Storage Management Server (2U)

CorData Storage Management Appliances... the key to your open storage architecture

What good is a large storage resource, if it can't be easily managed?  CorData Storage Management Servers are highly capable and sophisticated storage management servers, with many different capabilities depending on the software "personality" we install on it for you.

Storage Management Servers, (SMS), in their basic configuration, support industry standard LINUX running in a storage-centric configuration.  Able to manage diverse storage resources attached via SCSI or fibre channel, the SMS includes a Logical Volume Manager, able to manage multiple volumes, create, allocate and append volumes, perform software based RAID V and mirroring, and share out volumes over Ethernet via NFS, CIFS, or HTTP protocols.  This is a first-rate enterprise-class 2U server, including single or dual Xeon processors, up to 12GB RAM, three PCI-X and two high performance PCI-express slots, hardware RAID supporting mirrored, hot-swappable boot drives, hot-swappable redundant power and cooling units, and comprehensive system monitoring and error reporting features.  Tool-less design and modular, advanced internal components make servicing the unit a snap.

Storage Gateway Servers, (SGS), expand upon the capabilities of the Storage Management Server by providing highly sophisticated and vendor-independent storage virtualization software, upgrading the standard SMS configration.  The SGS can support multiple simultaneous fibre channel, and iSCSI attached servers, performs NAS file services, VMWare virtual machine integration, and also performs high-level storage management functions such as snapshot, remote synchronization, and server-side agents to facilitate non-stop snapshot volume management.

iSCSI Storage Servers, (ISS), offer an entry level version of the Storage Gateway Server, specifically optimized for iSCSI protocol at an amazingly low price.  Able to deliver SAN capabilities over the existing Ethernet infrastructure, enterprises may deploy a hardware-independent fully functional storage appliance for less than the cost of an iSCSI router.  The ISS brings advanced features such as snapshot, mirroring, and unlimited storage capcity licensing to existing SCSI or fibre channel attached storage hardware as well as a wide range of complimentary CorData advanced storage solutions.

File System Servers, (FSS), expand upon the capabilities of the Storage Management Server by providing a high performance shared file system capability to multiple FSS servers.  Highly scalable, the FSS software supports from 2 to 255 nodes and provides a clustered highly available NFS server or Oracle database server capability.

Virtual Tape Servers, (VTS), expand upon the capabilities of the Storage Management Server by providing a tape library emulation application, allowing you to run existing backup applications but with disk-based backup and recovery performance.  The VTS may be attached to most popular SCSI or fibre channel attached disk or tape storage resources.  Able to emulate multiple tape libraries with large tape populations, the VTS allows clients to implement an easy and affordable disk-to-disk backup solution without changing their existing backup application software nor their existing backup management procedures.  Clients may attach existing tape libraries directly to the VTS for high performance off-line destaging to tape, including WAN connections to remotely located tape library resources.

Assureon Information Assurance Appliances provide organizations with sophisticated Information assurance capabilities in three ways.  first, data is automatically migrated from servers to the Assureon appliance to provide continuous and automatic disk-to-disk backup solution.  Second, single-instance storage and encrypted key file system security minimizes data storage capacity by eliminating all redundant data files, and allows document classification so organizational policies defining user access, document lifecycle, and storage media are automatically enforced.  Lastly, data verification continuously audits files to confirm the data that is supposed to exist both in local and remotely located media is not only present, but continues to exist in it's exact original state, and self-heals if file corruption has occured.  The Assureon Information Assurance Appliance is by far the most sophisticated information assurance solution available at anywhere near the price.
